Employees at The Langstone, on Hayling Island, competed against each other in a tray race on Thursday, May 21, raising £95 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The hotel was one of 21 properties managed by hotel management company Redefine BDL Hotels. The Langstone’s tally will be added to the other hotels’ donations, with more than £2,500 going to Macmillan, Redefine BDL Hotels’ chosen charity.

Thirty-one employees from the hotel took part in the race on the day, which coincided with the main Waiters Day Race in London’s Hyde Park.

The winner was Michael Ricketts, restaurant manager.

Sonnie Richards and Branden Parkes came in as runners-up.

Clint Marsh, general manager of The Langstone, said: ‘National Waiters Day is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the hard work of our front-of-house teams.

‘It’s an even better chance to do our bit for charity whilst having some fun.

‘The teams gave their all and were great sports.

‘Congratulations to Michael on his victory and to all the staff who took part.’
