He said: ‘His first game was a pre-season friendly up in Sutton.

‘I thought if he doesn’t like it, we can leave early. I wasn’t going to worry too much about the result because it was a friendly.

‘But he took to it so well that we kept going, and here we are today with 115 grounds under his belt and 117 matches.’

The grounds Liam and his dad have been to include Manchester United’s Old Trafford, Nottingham Forest’s City Ground and Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium.

Christopher said: ‘He has also visited the likes of Arsenal, West Ham, West Brom, Tottenham and Chelsea.

‘When we go to league matches he usually gets a little souvenir so he has something to remember it by.’

They’ve also been to many local pitches including those in Horndean, Havant, Fareham, Gosport and Portchester.

But Christopher said Fratton Park was something special.

He said: ‘This is a fantastic place to watch football at.

‘It’s such a traditional, old-style ground. There’s always a good crowd and a really enjoyable atmosphere.’

Christopher said TV or radio coverage couldn’t compare with watching a game from the stands.

He said: ‘It’s a totally different experience. As well as the atmosphere, it’s about meeting new people and visiting new places.

‘We like to see the cities and towns that we go to, and we usually try to get Liam to a playground as well.’
