MP wears pink in fight against breast cancer

Ms Dinenage is taking part in Breast Cancer Now’s Wear it Pink event.

The MP headed to Westminster and teamed up with MP colleagues by dressing in flamboyant garments in order to raise the profile of the charity’s October campaign.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘Fifty thousand women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, and sadly about 11,500 women and 80 men will lose their lives to the disease.

‘Together, we must put a stop to this, and in Wear it Pink there is a fun and simple way for everyone to get involved.

‘Wear it Pink is the UK’s biggest, brightest and pinkest fundraiser for breast cancer raising close to £2m each year.

‘The money raised by the charity each year goes towards world-class research into the disease.’

On October 21, the public are being encouraged to turn everything pink and donate to the charity.

Baroness Delyth Morgan is chief executive of Breast Cancer Now.

Her ambition is that by 2050, everyone who develops the disease will live.

The October campaign will help make this vision a reality as people get involved at work, school or at home by donating what they can and wearing pink.

She said: ‘It’s wonderful to see so much parliamentary support for Wear it Pink.

‘Far too many women are still losing their lives to this dreadful disease.

‘On Friday, October 21, every cake baked, every feather boa or pink tie worn and every laugh shared will help us create a future where no one dies from breast cancer.’
