Parking restrictions in Fareham parade get officers' backing

SHOPKEEPERS are set to learn their fate about proposed waiting restrictions outside their parade.

Fareham Borough Council is set to make a decision on plans to introduce waiting restrictions in Anjou Crescent, Fareham at a meeting in the Civic Offices on Tuesday.

The proposals, which have been recommended for approval by council officers, are to restrict the street’s 11 parking bays down to two hours’ parking from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Double-yellow lines will also be implemented along both east and west entrances.

A petition from the shopkeepers along the parade collected 470 signatures to oppose the restrictions.

A report published online ahead of the meeting read: ‘Having received and analysed the comments, it is clear that to limit the parking through Anjou Crescent to a two-hour limit would upset a sizeable number of people. However, to do nothing at all would fail to recognise the concerns about long-term parking.’

The meeting starts at 1pm.
