Family and friends say emotional goodbye to Gosport mum-of-one Sabrina

That was the poignant tribute paid to Sabrina Bellman as her family and friends said their final goodbyes yesterday at her funeral.

With tears flowing, the packed chapel at The Oaks Crematorium in Havant heard how the mum-of-one was always caring and thoughtful.

People paid tribute to the 26-year-old by wearing burgundy, which was her favourite colour.

During an emotional goodbye, her husband, Dominic, spoke of the moment when Sabrina, from Gosport, was still caring for their three-year-old daughter Elsie moments after the crash in which she died on Boxing Day.

He said: ‘Sabrina always put pressure on herself to be the perfect mother.

‘I am so proud of her.

‘All she cared about was making sure Elsie was safe despite her injuries.’

The service, which featured songs by Whitney Houston and Queen, also heard how much Dominic loved making Sabrina laugh. He added: ‘I would do anything to hear her laugh. It lit up the room when she smiled or laughed.

‘She was so supportive and made being a husband and a father so easy.

‘There’s not a more perfect person in heaven to have as our guardian angel.

‘Elsie has lost her mum, but she has gained hundreds of aunties and uncles here today that will help keep Sabrina in her heart.’

Several readings, including a poem created by Sabrina’s colleague June Robinson from Age UK Portsmouth, were included in the service.

June said after the funeral: ‘Sabrina was always happy and smiling.

‘She always treated the elderly people she was visiting as if they were her own grandparents.’

Fellow colleague Cindy Lillington added: ‘Sabrina rose to the challenge. She was so kind and caring.’

The service heard that Sabrina had found her calling when she joined Age UK Portsmouth in March.

Dominic said: ‘Sabrina was so happy when she started working at Age UK. She was destined to help people and she never understood how special she was.’

That sentiment was echoed by her brother, Adam Watkinson.

The 30-year-old, from Portslade near Brighton, said: ‘She was bubbly and out-going. She was quite a menace as a little sister, but beautiful on the inside and out.’

Adam added: ‘When we pulled up and saw everyone here, I was gobsmacked.

‘It was a beautiful service and great to see everyone here.’
