KAPOW intends to hold six bi-monthly events at the centre as well as setting up a wrestling training school.

The events are aimed at being more family friendly than other independent wrestling shows, with an emphasis on storytelling and being colourful.

KAPOW co-owner and promoter, Carl Restall, said: ‘KAPOW has always prided itself on being family-friendly and Cowplain events are the perfect example of that.

‘Half our audience is families with young children and the feedback we get is incredible.

‘It’s a huge leap of faith for us to run six events and training out of the venue, but when the staff there are so helpful and the fans so enthusiastic it’s worth the risk.’

Rishi Ghosh, KAPOW hero-weight champion, said: ‘From the shows, people can expect larger-than-life characters battling it out in classic good versus evil scenarios.

‘KAPOW is unique, as it appeals to a wide range of ages.

‘As for training, anyone attending will get to step into the actual KAPOW wrestling ring with some of its stars and have the opportunity to learn some of the skills it takes to be a wrestler.’

Restall added: ‘I live in the area and was keen to bring my promotion into the town to provide affordable family entertainment as well as training opportunities.

‘I have been working closely with the centre staff to implement new ideas to attract more and more people from the area.

‘We have run three successful events at the venue now with the one in February being the first out of six for 2016.’
