Gosport boy gets a birthday to remember as his favourite wrestler visits him in lockdown

The birthday boy, who lives in Pegasus Drive, Gosport, was ‘gobsmacked’ when he was visited by Fearless Flatliner, aka Chris Manns, and Mr Meaner, aka Steve Brady.

The wrestling fan, who has been to watch several matches across Gosport, said: ‘I was really surprised – it’s made my day.’

Chris, who has been wrestling for more than 20 years, added: ‘We came round to cheer him up – it’s not John Cena or The Rock, but we came to give him a bit of a buzz on his birthday.

‘His mum offered to pay for a video message, which was sweet, but I told her there was no need and I would come down because they live close by.

‘My son turned 11 in March, so I know it’s hard for kids having birthdays while this coronavirus issue is going on.’

The wrestler, who works as a bouncer across Gosport, had to be extra careful to maintain social distancing measures, as an operation to remove his colon several years ago means he is considered at high risk should he contract Covid-19.

As well as the two local celebrities, Leyton was surprised with a visit from his grandmother and uncle on Thursday, as well as his best friend and his family.

Mum Casie Cowley said the birthday boy knew he was getting a surprise – but didn’t dream to think it would be his favourite wrestler.

The hairdresser said: ‘I followed the Fearless Flatliner on Instagram and thought I would give it a go sending him a message. He was really enthusiastic about the idea – he’s been brilliant.

‘He took some social distancing photos and left some presents, which were signed posters and DVDs of old wrestling matches – they look like they are collectables.

‘It’s been really hard for Leyton – he can’t wait for everything to get back to normal and for him to see his dad, brother, and the rest of the family.’
