Alexander Beech committed to shaving his head in aid of Cancer Research UK earlier this month after telling his parents “I don’t need my hair” and has now smashed through both his initial fundraising target of £500 and thye £1000 milestone.
He braved the shave on Saturday, October 21 at Morgan’s Barbers, cheered on by two of his friends and “smiling throughout” the haircut. It was started by his father who shaved a line down the middle of Alexander’s head before handing the clippers over to the barber.

Alexander’s mother Sarah Beech said: “He’s really chuffed. He really feels like he has raised enough to make a difference for people. We are so proud of him.
She added that one of Alexander’s friends didn’t recognise him with his new look. The kind-hearted schoolboy has previously shown an interest in supporting charities and decided he wanted to raise money for Cancer Research in part due to having family members struck by cancer.

Alexander and his brother previously held a fundraiser for a local hospital by climbing their stairs “thousands of times” during a Covid-19 lockdown.

Speaking before the big day, Sarah told The News: “As his parents we just think he’s so brave – it’s not something either of us would be willing to do. I thought it was just one of those things that he would change his mind about, but he was very adamant.”
