Ideas are wanted for eco-friendly contest

Portsmouth residents are being invited to share their ideas to protect the planet for an eco competition in the run-up to Earth Hour on March 19.

WWF and People’s Postcode Lottery are asking people to submit a pioneering idea for making their neighbourhood, workplace or school more environmentally friendly.

A number of schools have already signed up, including Portsmouth Academy for Girls, Arundel Court Primary School and Manor Infant School.

Jennifer Clements, spokesperson for WWF-UK said: ‘Every year Earth Hour helps to put the spotlight on the pressures facing the planet to remind us that, together, we have the power to make change happen.

‘We want to hear what ideas the people of Portsmouth have which could help protect our planet.’

Entries close at midnight on Monday and the best entry in each category will win £500 to put towards their eco-idea, as well as an invitation to an exclusive Earth Hour event.
