The seal had been recovering at the beach on Hayling Island but was pestered by curious residents who were taking selfies last week.

Coastguards set up the barrier to keep people back in an effort to prevent the seal suffering further distress.

The situation also prompted an urgent plea from rescuers at the animal welfare charity, the RSPCA.

Now, after the seal appeared at Lee-on-the-Solent, the RSPCA posted on Twitter: ‘Please keep your distance & keep dogs on lead when nearby.
