PROSPECTIVE residents of a new retirement development were joined by the Mayor of Havant for a coffee morning.

Councillor Leah Turner celebrated her 75th birthday this week with new occupants of the Wellesley Court Retirement Living Community in Waterlooville.

Cllr Turner enjoyed coffee and cakes with residents before the village’s scheduled opening later this summer in Darnel Road.

Wellesley Court is operated by MHA, a national charity which provides care and accommodation to more than 17,000 elderly people in the UK.

A representative from MHA said: ‘Attendees loved catching up with friends old and new and it was a real treat for them to be able to chat to such a distinguished guest.

‘We hope to host more events like this in the future – building links between residents and the community is at the heart of our vision.’

Wellesley Court is set to open 48 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments in its state-of-the-art complex, which will also include leisure facilities and 24-hour staffing.
