Medieval ball raises more than Â£10,000

The event, held in the grounds of Portchester Castle, was in support of the Rose Road Association – a charity that supports children with multiple and complex health needs.

Almost 200 guests attended the event, many of them in medieval attire.

Sponsored by local firms Wild Recruitment and TJ Waste & Recycling, the ball also featured a live auction, with prizes donated for the occasion.

These prizes included festival tickets, a supercar experience and a six-month membership to Fontwell Racecourse.

HR manager Kevin Porter took up the role of MC for the evening, with Gosport resident Les Heyhoe being the auctioneer.

The event also marked the retirement of the charity’s chief executive Heather Aspinall, after 22 years in charge.

She said: ‘Our annual ball with TJ Waste and Wild Recruitment was another fantastic event, and we are grateful for their continued support which allows us to support young people with disabilities in Hampshire.

‘This is my last event as CEO, and so it was great to be able to enjoy such a fun evening.’

The charity is active across Hampshire and has been operating for 65 years.
