MEP slams vote ‘chaos’

AN MEP for the South East has spoken out against the recent EU elections for denying thousands of citizens a vote.

John Howarth MEP, of the Labour party, addressed the European Parliament in Strasbourg yesterday to highlight the ‘chaos’ of EU citizens being turned away from polling stations in the UK during the EU e lection this year. The MEP for South East England said: ‘I am concerned to learn of citizens from other EU member states who are resident in my constituency who were denied the o pportunity to exercise their right to vote.‘While the logistics of exercising a vote in more than one member state may theoretically be possible, it is practically ridiculous.’
