Plan for Milton Market post branch to move into nearby shop in Southsea

THE Post Office is planning to shut one of its branches in Southsea in favour of a desk at a nearby Southern Co-operative store.

The plan is to close Milton Market Post Office and open a counter at the grocery store at 161-167 Eastney Road.

Post Office regional manager Will Russell said the Co-op counter would offer an extra 62 hours a week of service, opening Monday to Saturday from 6am to 11pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Mr Russell said: ‘We’re making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

‘We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.’

The Post Office is taking feedback until March 16.
