Pompey fans starstruck to meet players at store signing
POMPEY fans were left star-struck during a meet-and-greet with some of the club's stars.
First teamers Tom Davies and Amine Linganzi as well as young star Alex Bass met fans at timber merchants Covers’ depot in Norway Road, Hilsea, to sign shirts and have a chat yesterday.
Fans got the chance to have a photograph with their heroes.
First in the queue were Jordan Butler, 21, from Tunbridge Wells and her brother Louis, 18, from West Sussex who had travelled specially to meet the players.
Jordan, a life-long Pompey fan said: ‘We thought that it would be something that we really couldn’t miss out on.
‘We’ve been fans since we were kids and try to get to every home game, so the chance to come and meet some of the players was such a good opportunity.
‘They seem like decent guys as they were lovely to talk to and were happy to help out in any way.’
Louis added: ‘I wanted to meet them. I’m a huge fan and it’s not every day that you get a chance to meet players from your team.’
Jay Bracher, from Portsea could not stop smiling as he went to meet his heroes.
The 12-year-old got all of the players to sign his replica shirt before having a group picture with his heroes.
He said: ‘I was so excited about it, I’ve been thinking about it all day.’
‘I thought they were nice guys and I was happy when they signed my shirt.’
Lennon Keil, nine, from North End, was delighted to meet the players.
He said: ‘It has been good to meet them. They were pretty cool.’
Davies, a centre-back, who signed for the club this summer, said: ‘It’s nice to be able to give an hour or so of our time to come and meet the fans.
‘They give the club incredible support and that’s why it is important for us to give something back and spend some time with them. Our fans are special to us.’
