Quiz night for Finlay's much-needed buggy

A CHARITY pub quiz and raffle is being held to help Finlay Montague get around in safety and comfort.

The 14-month-old from Fareham has a complex neurological condition that affects his mobility and causes delays in his development.

He needs a special buggy that costs £3,500.

Finlay’s dad, Laurie, works at Southern Electric Power Distribution and his workmates are organising the fundraiser, which will be at the The Churchillian pub in Portsdown Hill from 7pm this evening.

Laurie said: ‘Finlay is fed through a gastrostomy tube in his stomach and experiences severe reflux, so sitting up reduces the risk of choking and makes him more comfortable.

‘At the moment we use a standard pushchair when we go out, but this doesn’t offer the right amount of support, and so we often end up carrying him.

‘An occupational therapist recommended the specialist buggy, which is fantastic but sadly he cannot get it on the NHS until Finlay is three years old.’

Jon Ivey from SEPD said: ‘The quiz night is open to everyone, and our raffle has some fantastic prizes donated by local businesses and so we’re hoping that we can raise enough money to make a big difference to the fundraising total.’
