Although lockdown restrictions meant the Teasdale family from Stubbington couldn’t spend the day having fun at the nearby shoreline, they spent Good Friday making the most of their makeshift driveway beach.

Sally and Ian, along with their daughter Sophie and her boyfriend Sam Potts, created a short video to support the ‘stay at home’ message and bring a smile to people’s faces, which has been seen by thousands of people.

‘We live about a mile away from the slipway at Stubbington,’ said Sally.

‘We would normally be out in the good weather all the time. We wanted to spread some joy and just have a bit of fun and promote the stay at home message.’

The video sees the four watersports enthusiasts in beach gear playing on their jetski on the driveway, making sandcastles and enjoying a beer in the sun.

Their love for the seaside meant they had all the equipment they needed for a spontaneous day in the sun, including windbreakers, kayaks and inflatables, as well as their own beach-themed garden and Tiki bar summer house.

Keen-eyed viewers will also notice a seagull which joins the family in each shot of the final video, which was edited by Sam.

Sally said: ‘We did have a lot of fun, it was a great way to spend Good Friday. We’re lucky we have got each other here, we’re lucky to have a garden and outdoor space.

‘We wanted to try and make a few people laugh, it’s all a bit serious at the moment. Hopefully it made a few people smile or have a chuckle.’

After a day of fun in the sun, the family climbed into their camper vans on the driveway to take part in the Great British Camp Out, which saw people across the country in tents and vans over the weekend to raise money for the NHS.

The Teasdales hope their video will help encourage people to stay at home.
