VE Day: Drone picture reveals a special VE Day message made from 10 buses at Portsmouth depot

TO CELEBRATE the 75th anniversary of VE Day, a bus depot in Portsmouth has been able to commemorate the day with some expert parking and a high flying drone.

Colin Ashcroft, operations manager for Stagecoach South at the depot in Walton Road, Drayton, and the team at Solent Sky Services staged the photo using Stagecoach buses, as well as vehicles from other businesses across the city.

The shot required ‘some very nifty parking’, according to a message posted on the Twitter account for Solent Sky Services.

It continued: ‘It was a pleasure to capture this tribute to VE75 down at the Stagecoach depot.

‘Love how Royal Mail, Menzies Distribution, and the STEAM Bus from Education Innovation UK CIC were involved to make up the colours.

‘Some very nifty parking.’

It comes as the drone photography company has started a crowdfunding to make a short film capturing Portsmouth from the sky and ground during the nationwide lockdown.

So far 43 supporters have raised £3,765 of the company’s £5,000 target.

The 75th anniversary of VE Day celebrations will see Portsmouth and the surrounding area host a range of events throughout the day.
