Hampshire County Council will take over on-street parking enforcement from Fareham Borough Council, which will continue to enforce its own car parks.

Residents’ parking and visitors permits will also be under the remit of Hampshire council meaning any residents who need to renew their permits will need to apply to Hampshire once the changes have come in.

However, permits that expire between April and June can still be renewed by Fareham council during March. After then all renewals will be undertaken by Hampshire. Councillor Trevor Cartwright, public protection boss at Fareham council, said: ‘We have written to all our parking permit holders to inform them of the changes and will publicise further details regarding the new on-street parking service once we have them.’

More details can be found on the councils’ websites.
