Counting starts as Gosport candidates prepare to learn how they fared in election
Ballot boxes have arrived at Gosport's election count and votes are being verified after the borough took to the polls.
And borough council leader Mark Hook is confident the Conservatives will retain control of the authority.
He said: ‘I’m expecting still to be the majority group and for us to run the council.
‘Elson and Christchurch were difficult when you think we’ve only had majorities of teens and 20s.
‘Christchurch, Elson, Brockhurst and Bridgemary South - those four could go any way.’
The Tories currently have a majority of 21 seats out of 34 on the council.
Of those, 17 seats are up this year.
Forton is the most hotly-contested seat with candidates from Labour, Ukip, the Liberal Democrats, the Conservatives and an Independent.
