Hampshire County Council has one of lowest compensation rates for pothole claims

THE county council has one of the lowest compensation rates for claims relating to potholes.

The news comes as Hampshire County Council spends £10m a year on repairing its roads, including 10,000 potholes. The authority has one of the lowest pothole compensation rates per mile compared with other councils.

Councillor Rob Humby, executive member for transport, said: ‘Our planned maintenance programme is a long-term strategy designed to ensure our road network is more resilient.

‘We’ve put extra investment into this and are seeing the results.’
