Hampshire County Council to get share of £175m to improve road safety

THE county council will receive a share of £175m to improve safety on certain roads in the area.

Hampshire County Council is one of eight local authorities taking part in a national government initiative and will benefit from the cash over the next four years.

Councillor Rob Humby, executive member for transport, said: ‘We have been working on the potential of route assessments and so were pleased to see this approach adopted.’

The A32, A27 and A36 have been identified as among 50 in the country to benefit from the initial announcement of funding.
