Petition against NHS trade deal given to Gosport MP

People living in Gosport are calling on Caroline Dinenage to intervene and use her power to persuade Prime Minister David Cameron to protect the NHS from a controversial trade deal.

The protesters are against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a trade deal between the European Union and the United States, which they say could threaten the NHS with irreversible privatisation.

The trade deal, which has been largely done in secret, is still being negotiated and is the largest of its kind.

Gosport resident Don Brown said: ‘We are here to make sure our MP represents the wishes of her constituents across Gosport.

‘We need our MPs to accept that if people don’t want their National Health Service placed in ongoing danger by this secretive and undemocratic trade deal then they should not support it.’

Leaders from almost all major parties from across the UK, apart from the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, recently signed a declaration demanding protections for the NHS from the impact of the TTIP trade deal.
