Portsmouth MP gives thoughts on Brittany Ferries extra security

TORY MP Penny Mordaunt said security threats should not affect our way of life.

The Portsmouth North MP’s comments come after Brittany Ferries announced plain-clothed security personnel would join French armed military on board its fleet, including those leaving Portsmouth.

Speaking to The News, Ms Mordaunt said: ‘Brittany Ferries will want to play its role in keeping its passengers safe and our country secure.

‘I hope that the public find the review it has undertaken and this increased security reassuring.

‘Whatever the issues, we must not let the threats we face affect our way of life.’

Brittany Ferries introduced the extra security measures after a six-month independent review and they will be in place this summer.
