Safeguarding concerns on Sure Start Centre cuts

CONCERNS about safeguarding continue to be raised by campaigners hoping to save Sure Start Centres from being closed.

They come as Cllr Keith Mans, who put forward the proposals to Hampshire County Council, said the direction of travel was not going to change in terms of focusing resources on those in greatest need.

Mum Caroline Osborne, of Gosport, said: ‘The council has a responsibility for safeguarding. If they take away 43 children’s centres, that’s 43 places where this safeguarding isn’t happening.’

Save Our Children’s Centres Hampshire is campaigning against the proposals.
