Residents and politicians were disappointed to learn that Tuesday's consultation from JP Developments for 140 new homes on the old police station site closed an hour and three quarters early.

Liberal Democrat leader, Cllr Peter Chegwyn, said: '˜If they advertise that they will be there until 8pm then they should stick to that.

'˜When I went down there were quite a few people who were disappointed that the developers had left early, because it meant they couldn't quiz them directly and get the answers to the questions they had.'

But following calls for a second consultation, JP Developments have announced that a second consultation will take place at 130 High Street on Tuesday, from 5-8pm.

Graham Jacobs from JP Developments said: '˜We closed early because the shop had no power and it had become very quiet.

'˜We've put an apology onto our website and have made sure everything is public for people to see it.

'˜But we're still in the consultation period and want to make sure everyone has their say, so will be doing a second consultation to make up for lost time.'

The team is also liaising with the landlord of the building to try and get some lights working in time for the event.

Mr Jacobs said: '˜We hope to have a bit of power in the building so that everyone can see clearly.'
