Water issue fixed in council owned flats

PORTSMOUTH City Council successfully restored running water to Blackwood House in Buckland, it has been confirmed.

Two new water tank pumps were installed yesterday after one of the original ones was found to have a fault causing flats on the upper level of the block to be left without running water for four days.

Speaking yesterday the council's assistant director of housing, Paul Fielding, said: '˜Our contractor has now completed a temporary fix to allow the failed pump to supply water up to properties. Two brand new pumps will be delivered Wednesday. We'll need to briefly turn the water off for a couple of hours whilst they're installed, but there should be enough stored water in the roof tank to allow for this without disruption. We're grateful to the building's residents for their patience whilst the issue is dealt with.''‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹

The council then stated in the evening that the new pumps had been installed earlier in the day.
