Anyone over 55 can sign up to the new Steady and Strong class in Wickham designed to increase strength and stability and prevent falls.

The class is one of 87 being held across the county. In addition to co-ordinating these, Hampshire County Council subsidises the specialist training undertaken by the instructors who run the classes.

Councillor Patricia Stallard, executive member for public health, said: '˜Developing strength and balance is vitally important in preventing falls, a major source of injury in older people.
