Portsmouth dance club raises hundreds of pounds for QA Hospital and osteoporosis charity with 1920s-themed celebrationÂ

DANCERS have united to raise hundreds of pounds for the rheumatology department at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

More than 70 movers and shakers collected a total of £826 when they joined together for an 1920s-themed fundraiser at St Colman' s Hall in Cosham last month. 

The sociable initiative was organised by members of the PP Dance Club who showed off their finest ballroom, Latin and modern sequence moves for a good cause.

Revellers also enjoyed a class from the MyCharleston adult dance group, which has bases in Portsmouth and on the Isle of Wight among other places. 

Money from the night also went to the UK-based charity National Osteoporosis Society '“ which alongside QA Hospital supports a number of members of the PP Dance Club. 

Pauline Wheeler, who has co-run the club in Portsmouth for 20 years, said: '˜There are well established health benefits and dance is promoted and encouraged by both organisations as it is a great way of keeping your bones strong.'
