Public exhibition about walking and cycling improvements for Emsworth

A PUBLIC exhibition will reveal a range of new cycle and pedestrian routes for a town.

The improvements for the Emsworth area will go on show at Emsworth Community Centre, in North Street, tomorrow between 1pm and 8pm.

The measures, funded by Hampshire County Council using developer contributions, will include a new toucan crossing at Horndean Road, near St James School.

There will be a new ‘quiet’ route through Christopher Way (north) and Fairfield Close linking New Brighton Road to Horndean Road.

Footpaths in the southern part of Emsworth Recreation Ground will be widened to allow shared use.

And there will be a new uncontrolled crossing point of New Brighton Road north of the railway bridge.

Councillor Colin Mackey said: ‘Over the past five years a great deal of new infrastructure has been built across Emsworth to make cycling more attractive. This proposed work will almost complete the cycle network in the town.’
