Royal Navy's newest hunter-killer submarine puts its state-of-the-art torpedo system to the test

THE navy's latest and most advanced hunter-killer submarine, Artful, has test fired her first torpedo using a new command and control system built and designed in the UK

The firing tested the BAE Systems designed Common Combat System (CCS) on board, which functions as the digital ‘brain’ of the boat controlling its ‘eyes’, ‘ears’ and ‘nervous system’.

The MoD describes the system as one of the most advanced in the world.
