Selfless Jasmine cuts hair off for children with cancer for the second time

The 13-year-old, from Leigh Park, has just had almost 12 inches of her hair cut off for the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provide wigs and hairpieces for children who suffer hair loss because of cancer treatment.

Jasmine, who attends Park Community School, says: ‘I first had my hair cut off in May, 2014, I had about nine inches removed then.

‘This time it was 11-and-a-half inches, and I’ve managed to raise about £235 by doing it this time. Last time it was £500.

‘That money goes straight to the Little Princess Trust along with my hair.

‘I wanted to do it because there are little children out there who have suffered enough already from cancer, and they need the hair more than I do.

‘If I can make others happy by giving them my hair I will, because I can easily grow it back.’

Jasmine is currently organising a coffee morning at her school for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s charity.

She adds: ‘I was also inspired to help after my nan Lou was diagnosed with breast cancer. She’s really proud of me.’

‘I’ll probably donate my hair again at some point in the future and if there are any other charities out there that take hair, I’d like to help them too.’

The teenager’s mum is extremely proud of her little girl. Leanne Cooper says: ‘I think Jasmine is totally amazing. Cutting most of your hair off is such a selfless thing to do at a young age.

‘It costs the Little Princess Trust between £350-£500 to provide a wig for a child.’
