Southsea community centre to start revamp

A COMMUNITY centre in Southsea will finally undergo a long-awaited revamp.

The Frank Sorrell Centre in Prince Albert Road will see rebuilding work start on Tuesday, August 30, with the end goal of transforming it into a more welcoming venue for activities and events.

Reconstruction will include the installation of PVC double-glazed windows and a brand new boiler.

The work, which is being managed by the Portsmouth Disability Forum, costs £13,000 and is mostly being covered by The Veolia Environmental Trust.

Lynne Rigby, principal officer for the Portsmouth Disability Forum, said: ‘The new windows and heating system will improve the comfort and warmth of the building, benefiting everyone who uses it.’
