Three potential windows to complete new Hayling kitesurfing feat

DAREDEVIL Richard Branson has already set a record on Hayling Island.

Last year he joined 318 kitesurfers
to travel one mile along the coast,
setting the world record for the biggest armada.

It was then Mr Branson said he thought the sun always shone on Hayling.

There are three potential windows to complete this year’s challenge of more than 500 in the armada.

The first was this weekend but winds are not favourable.

They are now aiming for September 27 and 28.

If that does not work it will be during the weekend of October 11 and 12.

Mr Branson said: ‘After the World Record breaking success of the first ever Virgin Kitesurfing Armada, I am really looking forward to this year’s event and seeing hundreds of kitesurfers coming together again to raise funds for good causes and hopefully breaking our own record.

‘My passion for kitesurfing is well known, and an event like this that showcases the best of kitesurfing, and it is something Virgin is fully behind – especially since we are seeing the Kitesurfing Armada growing into a festival this year, something we do know a little bit about at Virgin!

‘I will look forward to seeing everyone on the beach.’
