UPDATE: Major road re-opened following crash in Fareham

POLICE have re-opened a main road in Fareham following a crash between a lorry and a car this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Newgate Lane following the incident at 9am.

Two people have been taken to hospital.

A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service said the 42-year-old female car driver was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, with serious injuries. They are not thought to be life-threatening.

The male lorry driver was also taken to QA Hospital after suffering minor injuries.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said officers closed the road so anyone injured could be treated.

Delays are still expected.

The air ambulance had been called but was stood down.
