Workmen rescued from cherry picker after getting stuck 30ft up in Portsmouth

FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue contractors who got stuck in the cage of a hydraulic crane 10m in the air.

The pair were inside a metal cage lifted up by the cherry picker, and were fitting CCTV cameras to Catisfield House, off Lake Road, Portsmouth, when they realised they were stuck.

Colleagues on the ground called firefighters who had to use an aerial ladder to get them out.

Crew manager Conrad Stockley said: ‘It was at the rear of Catisfield House.

‘They were about 10m high installing surveillance cameras.

‘The workmen were stuck in the cherry picker, they were locked inside the cage.

‘We used an aerial platform ladder to get them down.

‘They were both absolutely fine, just a bit embarrassed.

‘They were stuck in there for about 15 minutes.
