Expedition cruise line Hurtigruten’s vessel MS Fridjtof Nansen visited the city on Thursday, March 5 as part of a UK showcase.

It is among the first ships of its kind in the world and reflects the maritime transport industry’s bid to mitigate environmental concerns.

The white, red and black behemoth is named after the Norweigan polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen and will make her inaugural sailing in April.

It is designed to be able to explore remote regions, from Antarctica to Greenlland.

MS Fridjtof Nansen will make a series of visits to Portsmouth International Port this month, including one on Sunday and another on March 17.
