South Western Railway trains between Portsmouth and London Waterloo diverted due to signal failure near Woking

TRAINS running between Portsmouth and London Waterloo are being diverted due a power surge knocking-out signals in the Woking area this morning.

South Western Railway is running a severely reduced service between Woking and Surbiton due to the technical problem.

It means services between Portsmouth and Waterloo will divert via Effingham Junction.

A reduced service is running through the Woking area.

A replacement bus service is running between Woking and Surbiton, in both directions.

Passengers needing to change their travel plans will have their tickets accepted on Great Western Railway services between Basingstoke and Reading, as well as those between Reading and Paddington.

Tickets will also be accepted on RailAir services between Woking and Guildford.

A South Western Railway spokesperson said: ‘We apologise to passengers for the disruption to their journey today and encourage anyone who needs to travel to check our website for the latest information.’
