Storm Dennis: South Western Railway, Southern Rail and First Bus services across Hampshire disrupted as stormy weather arrives

South Western Railway and Southern Rail trains are running at reduced speeds with wind gusts of more than 30mph forecast all day.

Some services have been suspended because of surface water on railway lines, including near Hedge End, while trees have fallen onto the tracks in other places.

SWR trains are currently unable to run between Eastleigh and Fareham because of the flooding.

There was also water on the tracks near Hamble station but trains have been able to pass through at reduced speeds.

Bus services have also been diverted away from seafront roads as huge waves and surface water make driving conditions difficult.

The coastguard rescue team in Hill Head posted a video showing horrible seafront driving conditions after reporting that drivers had ignored road closure signs.

Here are the service changes First Portsmouth have in place (as of 11.50am):

- The X5 is being diverted along Stokes Bay down Gomer Lane and Privett Road.

- X4/16 - this service is being diverted along Clarence Parade and Avenue De Caen in both directions.

- 13/14 - this service is being diverted down Velder Avenue and Milton Rd in both directions.

More than 20mm of rain fell in some areas overnight as Storm Dennis caused widespread travel disruption across Hampshire.

Flood alerts are also in place as river levels rise, with residents being told to prepare for possible flooding.

The Sikh temple in Southsea has also had to close because of damage to the roof caused by the storm.
