Tricolore and Union Jack flown at half-mast at Hampshire County Council offices

HAMPSHIRE County Council joined tributes across Europe in remembering those who lost their lives in the series of terrorist attacks in Paris.

As a mark of respect and expression of solidarity, the Tricolore was flown at half-mast alongside the Union Jack at the council offices in Winchester yesterday.

Staff and councillors also joined the Europe-wide minute’s silence observed at 11am yesterday morning.

Council leader Roy Perry, who was one of the founding co-chairmen of Hampshire’s Interfaith Network, which promotes mutual understanding between people of faith, spoke of his horror at the attacks.

He said: ‘These attacks were horrific and appalling, and we share the shock and profound sadness that is being felt across Europe.

‘Our thoughts go out to the families of all those individuals who were killed and injured.’
