Insurance worker Ryan Mundy was watching artist Example perform on Sunday night at the three-day spectacular in Southsea when he lifted a woman struggling to see on his shoulders.

The 19-year-old, from Portsmouth, was stunned to learn later that the woman was terminally ill, '˜didn't have long left' and that the fact that a total stranger put her on their shoulders had '˜made her life'.

Kind-hearted Ryan is now looking for the woman to speak to her again.

Posting on Facebook in a message shared by more than 1,200 people he said: 'Made my life hearing that.'

He told The News: 'I'm just trying to find her as I couldn't even begin to comprehend how hard what she's going through is and I want her to know that not only are her family, friends and loved ones are there for her, I am as well, as is everyone else that's been sharing and liking the original post.'

It's not clear if the woman is from Portsmouth or was just visiting for the festival, which was hit by bad weather on Sunday.

Posting on Monday, Ryan said: '˜So tonight at Victorious, there was a woman stood in front of me, quite a small woman and she looked like she was really into the music, so I said to her, 'here you go, you'll enjoy it from up here' put her on my shoulders, she was loving it.

'˜It wasn't until Shannon came and said to me 'the woman on your shoulders said, to tell your mate that she was terminally ill, and didn't have long left and the fact a total stranger put her on your shoulders for the music, that it made her life'.

'˜I honestly feel so blessed to have been a part of that, and if anyone at all knows the woman in question (very, very long shot) please let me know how I can reach her.'
