Waterlooville church welcomes its first new parish priest in 13 years

A CHURCH in the heart of Waterlooville has welcomed its first new parish priest in 13 years.

Reverend Colin Lawlor has been inducted into his new role at St George's Church by the Bishop of Portsmouth, Christopher Foster.

Rev Lawlor had previously served as a parish priest near Brighton, in Stanmer and Falmer, but embarked on Waterlooville after the retirement of Rev Mike Sheffield.

After a packed out ceremony on September 19 '“ attended by the mayor of Havant, Peter Wade, Father Lawlor said: '˜I am enormously excited about my new role at St. Georges.

'˜I am very much looking forward to getting to know my parishioners and wider community in the months and years ahead.'

Rev Lawlor enjoyed a buffet reception after the ceremony.
