Warning for thunderstorms as weather warning is issued for Portsmouth

Forectasters have warned of thunderstorms later this week after a weather warning was issued for Portsmouth.

The Met Office has said isolated thunderstorms are likely to develop across parts of England and Wales from early tomorrow morning, clearing by the start of Friday.

Where they do occur intense downpours might lead to sudden flooding of roads.

Rainfall of up to 20mm to 30mm may fall in up to an hour if thunderstorms do happen.

The weather warning, which is categorised as yellow or ‘severe’, covers most of the UK as well as the south east.

The warning is in place from 6am tomorrow morning to 2am on Friday.

Despite the potential thunderstorms, temperatures are still expected to rise up to 25C over the next few days.

But the summer weather could come to a halt at the weekend, with light rain likely to fall in the Portsmouth area.
