According to handler PC Mike Chapman, 40, pictured, his dog, Storm, was only doing his job. ‘He stopped officers from ebing hurt,’ he said.
Stoirm, a seven-year-old German shepherd dog, was knifed in the neck after he and PC Chapman went to the siege scene near Eastleigh.

Officers snatched a three-year-old girl to safety from the house. Her mother, the wife of the man barricaded inside, got out earlier. The man later recovered in Southamton General Hospital.
PC Chapman said: ‘Storm went in and I heard him yelp, and when other officers had overpowered the man, I called Storm off and saw blood everywhere.
‘He was knifed in the neck and it only just missed his jugular vein. He has had an operation, has been stitched up, and is now getting better. He is a brave dog.’
