A drill instructor at the Royal Armouries Museum, in Fareham, will see children take part in marching drills, work in teams to charge, ram, load and simulate firing a bronze 3-pounder mountain gun and learn about the history of the attraction’s artefacts.

During the junior gun drill weekend, on September 10 and 11, visitors can also learn about the 16-pounder gun and see the pioneering work of Florence Nightingale.

On the Sunday, uniformed detachment Portsdown Artillery Volunteers will demonstrate and live fire the 16-pounder Rifled Muzzle Loading gun at 11.30am, 2pm and 3pm.
