Young Portsmouth magician to hold variety show for charity

The 16-year-old has been doing tricks since he was 10 and will be performing at the Kings Theatre, in Southsea, for the first time to hundreds of people.

Normally, his acts in the past have been in shopping areas in Portsmouth city centre but in March he will take to the stage.

Jordan, who runs his own magic firm, is busy getting ready for his show in between his classes at Highbury College where he studies A-levels.

He said: ‘Things are really busy getting the show together but I’m excited about it.

‘I’ve never performed at the Kings Theatre so I’m nervous but looking forward to it.

‘This is the first time I have organised something this big. In the past, I have just been in Cascades Shopping Centre or along Commercial Road, so it is very exciting.’

Jordan started doing magic after receiving a magician’s kit for Christmas when he was 10.

After getting bored, he decided to try it and has been trying new trick ever since.

As well as Jordan’s set on card tricks, up-close magic and illusions, the variety show will also have performances by singer Hannah Browning, a choir and a band.

Hannah, 17, said: ‘I’m looking forward to performing. I have sung on the stage before as part of a choir but never solo.

‘I do a range of songs and will be performing a variety to suit different people’s tastes.’

The event on March 9 is raising money for the British Heart Foundation.

Jordan, from Fratton, added: ‘The charity is very close to me because people in my family have suffered from heart problems.

‘I just want to raise as much money as possible for the charity.’
