The full-back is charged with driving while disqualified outside Fratton Park on October 20 – as the team prepared to face Fleetwood Town – and for having no insurance. He was an unused substitute for the match.

Walkes originally joined Pompey on loan in January from Tottenham Hotspur before making the move permanent in the summer.

He was due to appear this morning at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court for accused of the driving offences but failed to show-up.

Prosecutor Lucy Linington told the court there had been ‘no explanation for his non-attendance’ this morning after a postal requisition was sent to his address in Blakesley Lane, Copnor, in November.

Chair of the bench Philip Burns confirmed a warrant would be issued for the arrest of Walkes after his no-show.
