There was only one Match of the Day as far as newlyweds Ron and Caron Patmore were concerned.

For just hours after their marriage at Fareham Register Office, the couple were among the 36,000 capacity crowd as Pompey attempted to knock arch rivals Saints out of the FA Cup at Fratton Park.

Ron, who lived in Fareham, supported Pompey since he was 14 while his new wife Caron Tod, who had followed Saints since 1976, decided to also pump for the men in blue.

Caron said: ‘I want Pompey to win because if they lose he’ll be miserable and it’ll spoil our honeymoon!’
