Despite the ex-prime minister, Tony Blair, believing class divides were a thing of the past, separate enclosures for differing clienteles at the Goodwood racecourse told a different story.

There were miles of Savile Row suits, cigars the size of loo rolls and Rollers galore lining the car park. These were the people who spent most of their day in their expensive boxes in the Charlton stand, far away from the more downmarket Gordon enclosure.

Mr Cramb (pictured) wasn't happy. Jabbing a finger towards the upper class enclosure beyond the fence, he questioned: '˜Why are all the benches over there? Don't they think we want to sit down too?'

'˜I've complained about it before but they get the benches because they've got the money.'
