With more than 8,000 people taking part the Cardiff 10k is a great festival of running.

Wellington, 17, certainly showed his potential again after winning the Lakeside 5k race on Wednesday night in 15.18.

He managed his pace well in Cardiff and coach Vince Stamp was pleased to see the way he handled the occasion.

His coach said: ‘It was a learning curve for Lachie. He sat back in the opening kms and then picked up, moving through.

‘Then it was a tough seventh km before his fastest km nine to 10 in 3m04sec.’
